Congratulations to Julia Gillard on becoming Australia’s first female Prime Minister this morning.
I am very much a Liberal voting Australian (as most Entrepreneurs/Investors/Business Owners in Australia are) so I do hope she does not win the election coming up, however it is good to see Australia has made history today. Julia is obviously very bright, is an extremely good public speaker and debater (she absolutely slaughters Abbott whenever they lock horns) and today she has proven she is also a very strategic politician.
Julia, just one favour before you go… can you please dump this “Super Mining Tax” ASAP, and let our Economy bounce back and continue to grow?
FYI – I am not a big fan of Tony Abbott (actually not a fan at all), however I do hope the Liberal party gets in and sorts out who is the best leader later on down the track.

I have just added the Facebook Like button to my blog – you can now “like” my posts
It was super easy to add with my hosted WordPress blog. Here is the Facebook Like plugin I used.

Welcome to my blog’s new home!
Sure – the design has changed (and I hope you like it as much as I do) – however more importantly my blog can finally call the domain claycook.net its real home (no redirects required any longer).
For the techies out there… I am hosting it on BlueHost, and if someone were to visit my old blog address claycook.wordpress.com, they should (in theory) be redirected to this shiny new home.

Last Sunday I saw two perfect examples of when people (or teams) play “within themselves” and fail to; take the game on, play to their assets, and play to WIN!
Big lesson in life, “Play to WIN”

Why is it so hard to find great (or even just “good”) sales people these days?
As you can probably gauge, I believe it is a mixture of the three points above.
ineedhits (our Search Engine Marketing firm) is currently trying to hire a few new (good to excellent) sales team members and we are very disappointed with the low response rate, and the low quality of those that did respond. What ever happened to trying to “sell yourself”? If you can’t convince us (or even yourself), how are you going to convince potential customers.
People with the right mind set, can achieve an EXCELLENT overall salary, if the job offers a decent base salary, with achievable targets combined with attractive commissions. Come on people, set yourself a challenge, go out and achieve it and then be rewarded!!

It was FANTASTIC to see Freo continue their impressive form yesterday.
Here are my thoughts on the game…

Here I sit in hospital after surgery on my “ruptured Achilles tendon”, after 2 weeks of laying around waiting, the surgery was all over in 45 mins and I didn’t feel a thing (thank god for general anesthetic).
It seems this is a common injury for “Weekend Warriors” who play tennis. I was playing tennis but it was a Tuesday night! So maybe I am a Midweek Warrior?
If interested in discusting photos - here and here and here are some very disturbing ones of ruptured Achilles Tendons… thank god I didn’t look at these before surgery.
Seems I am going to be immobile for a long time (apparently it’s 9 months until I am running again). So I guess I may as well invest some time into this “social media” stuff again.

People are always convincing themselves that they will be happy ‘when they have a bigger house, or a new car, or a holiday’. Haven’t you noticed once you have these things, you start convincing yourself you will be happier when you have ‘x’. Think – their are people less fortunate than me that think “I would be happier if I had all the stuff Clay has”…
Hurrying and being ultra-efficient are very often enemies to true enjoyment in life. Enjoy ‘the process, enjoy the journey’. Why be in such a hurry to get onto the next ‘job’? There is always a lot to do, if you keep rushing from job to job, you will never enjoy any period of time.
Why are kids so happy? = because they live in the present… they dont worry about the past, or things coming up in the future.
Have you ever been to a 3rd world country? If so, you may have noticed how happy the general population is. In my experience they are generally far happier than most communities I have spent my time living around, yet they have far less personal items and wealth. Why is this? I am convinced one of the reasons is due to them living in the present far more often than most. They don’t seem to worry about the past, or what is coming up in the future, they are just living the moment, whatever it may be.
3. Stop beating yourself up. Stop the negative thoughts. Stop being so hard on yourself. Massively decrease the pressure, 90% of the pressure you feel is self induced!
4. Think “What’s it like being me?”. If someone were me for 24 hrs… would they go away saying… “wow that guy loves life and has a great life”… or would they go away saying things like… “how stressful”, how boring… etc

How embarrassing, I haven’t blogged for four months! I don’t really even have time to do this blog post, however it is probably important that I do at least this one to explain why, so here goes…
Recently I have been focusing on “getting the job done” and “doing less in less time”. As a result I have been spending FAR less time on things like Twitter, Plurk, Facebook, and blogs (including my own blog).
I have actually been picking up the telephone (remember what that is?) rather than emailing in a lot of instances… and the results are amazing… things get done a lot faster!
What do I mean by “doing less in less time“? It’s my own intepretation of a learning that is in the 4 hour work week book. Essentially I intepret it as; do only high priority items (ie: less things), and set yourself less time to achieve them in (ie: by setting less time, you dont stuff around with them… you just get on with it and complete the item. Less time also means I set much less time in the day for ‘work related’ activities.).
So, you probably wont see me on around here, at least for now anyway, until I get distratcted again…
